Memorial DaY brings discounts to the mattress models we test all year long, and the sales are going strong. As a seasoned deal hunter, I know that mattresses go on sale pretty often, but whenever someone asks me the best time to buy, I tell them to wait until Memorial Day or Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If you've been in the market for a new mattress, now's the time to act.
The WIRED Reviews team thoroughly tests the best mattresses long-term. We don't conduct “nap tests” or base recommendations on first impressions. Our top picks are tried-and-true, and they're on sale right now. We'll also include some deals on bedding, pillows, mattress toppers, and other sleep accessories as we update this story through the weekend. Prices shown are for queen sizes.
Feel free to check out our many other sleep recommendations, including the best pillows for neck pain, the best body pillows, and the best sunrise alarm cocks. You might also want to read our guide on how to choose a mattress. And finally, we have some other Memorial Day deals coverage you might be interested in.
Updated May 24: We've checked prices, removed expired deals, added 5 new discounts, and ensured accuracy throughout.

Helix Sleep
Use our exclusive coupon code WIRED27 to get 27 percent off our very favorite mattress for most people. We've seen it sell for about $100 less before, and they've thrown in more freebies, but this is still a great deal. Just be aware that the price might drop a little later in the month. In any case, the Midnight Luxe Hybrid is springy and medium-firm and should be well suited to any style of sleeping. The individually wrapped springs are zoned so that you have more support where you need it to prevent back pain. It also doesn't get too warm, though it's thick enough that you'll want deep-pocketed sheets. It's been our favorite mattress for over eight years.
Birch
Use exclusive coupon code WIRED27 to get a solid discount on the best organic mattress, which is bouncy and supportive and comes with a 100-day trial.
Naturepedic
This organic mattress has multiple layers that can be swapped out, which lets you fine-tune your firmness levels. Switch layers out for free for the first 100 nights.
My Green Mattress
This organic kids mattress is nontoxic and affordable. There's also an option for a two-sided mattress so you can flip it over to extend its life.

Saatva
Our favorite mattress for back pain is soft without being too soft, thanks to its pillow top and baked-in lumbar support. It's supportive from edge to edge. We also like the free in-room delivery, free mattress removal, and one-year trial. Reviewer Nena Farrell said it helped relieve her sciatica pain and was firm enough to support her back while also feeling plush for side-sleeping.
Purple
Our top pillow is adjustable, bouncy, and supportive, with a cooling gel grid and a flexible core.
Buffy
We've slept on dozens of different sheet sets, and these are the best sheets you can get for under $200. They're soft and breathable, though they do go on sale often.
Nolah
Use code WIRED50 to get a deal on the mattress our sleep expert Julia Forbes sleeps on every night. The Nolah Evolution is balanced and “nearly perfect,” although it could have better edge support.
Bear
Use code WIRED40 to snag a discount on a super-firm mattress that's hardly springy at all. If you want a stiff bed and intense support while still staying comfortable, this is the mattress for you.

Sleep Number
Use coupon code WIRED150 to get this deal. OK, yes, spending three thousand dollars on a mattress might seem a little crazy. But this bed isn't just your average mattress that you plop on a frame. It prevents motion transfer. It has an app to track fitness. The firmness can be dialed in to your (and your partner's) liking. It's on the soft side, even at maximum firmness which felt more like medium-firm to our expert tester Julia Forbes. But it's still nice and supportive, especially for side sleepers since it relieves pressure points without being so firm as to cause additional pain. Read more about it in our in-depth review.
Sleep Number
This adjustable mattress has built-in sleep tracking tech, customizable firmness, and an optional base that lets you warm your feet or enter zero-gravity mode. Read our review.
Plank
Our top firm mattress pick is flippable, with two firmness levels to choose from (an 8/10 on one side and a 10/10 on the other.) If you need a stiff mattress, this is a very good option.
Saatva
This is the best flippable mattress. It's very firm on one side and medium-soft on the other, making it especially ideal for guest rooms.
Essentia
This vegan organic mattress doesn't use wool or animal byproducts. The zippered organic cotton cover can be removed and washed, and the foam mattress is comfortable and supportive despite its lack of springs.

Cozy Earth
Coupon code WIRED25 will get you 25 percent off everything Cozy Earth has to offer. We really like its buttery-soft bamboo sheets, which feel like you're sinking into a silky cocoon. We also like its pajamas and socks. It's hard to go wrong with any of these products, really, especially if you prioritize softness over all. Just don't forget the coupon code! Our only gripe is that Cozy Earth sneakily adds package protection on during checkout. Make sure to remove it if you don't want it.
Hommey
We love this fun duvet cover, which is lightweight and stylish. Reviewer Nena Farrell says her comforter never gets all bunched up inside, either.
Coop Sleep Goods
Save 20 percent on our favorite pillow for side sleepers, which is adjustable and offers support without adding extra tension between your head and shoulders.
Bedsure
These inexpensive sheets feel like they could cost a lot more. They're silky and not smothering, and come in a huge variety of colors.
Blissy
The best sleep mask is comfortable and blocks light efficiently. It also includes a matching carrying case and is available in dozens of colors, though not all are discounted.

Silk & Snow
This bed frame is a rarity because it offers so much value for how little you pay. The understated, modern design will look good in any room. The best part is the built-in drawer with magnetic closure. It takes up about the bottom third of the frame, so there's room for extra linens, out-of-season clothes, or your hoard of books to read. Assembly is kind of annoying, but worthwhile for how little you'll pay, especially right now.
Saatva
This grown-up bed frame looks elegant, not imposing. I like its rigid structure and the rich smell of leather. It does attract dust bunnies underneath, though.
Silk & Snow
We think this wooden bed frame is absolutely gorgeous, though be aware that its finish is delicate. Tool-free assembly means it snaps together in minutes.
The Company Store
Use code MDW26 to save on this premium down comforter. You might not need it during the warmer months, but it'll be more expensive when it gets cold out.
Buffy
This cooling comforter is made with eucalyptus fibers, making it excellent for temperature regulation. It's the comforter I keep on my bed year-round.
