Apple today released tvOS 27 after several months of beta testing. tvOS 27 is available for free on the Apple TV 4K.

tvOS 27 can be downloaded using the Settings app on the Apple TV. Open up Settings and go to System > Software Update to get the new software. Apple TV owners who have automatic software updates activated will be upgraded to tvOS 27 automatically.
tvOS 27 features a redesigned Podcasts app, options for larger text and customizable subtitles, and a more responsive Control Center. AirPlaying to an Apple TV from another Apple device is faster, apps open quicker, and animations are smoother.
tvOS 27 works on the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV 4K models, and it drops support for the Apple TV HD and the first-generation Apple TV 4K.

The next Apple TV 4K will be equipped with an A19 or A19 Pro chip, according to evidence in Apple's code uncovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris.
