The usually private Admirals’ House at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich will be open for a few days this Christmas for people to wander around and photograph.

One of the oldest surviving parts of the site, Admiral’s House, overlooking the Thames, was once the residence of the Governor of the Royal Hospital for Seamen.
Dressed for the holidays, all four rooms of this historic house will be adorned with decorations, allowing visitors to explore a building rarely open to the public. They’re calling it a social media day, and the intended audience is people looking for non-commercial photos. But you can still wander around without a camera if you want.
The Admirals’ House will be open from Tuesday to Thursday for three weeks in December, and you’ll need to book tickets in advance here.
The ground floor of the building is fully accessible. Please note that there is no lift to the first floor, which is accessed via a staircase of 30 steps.
