The London Underground has been teleported to Beta Quadrant after a Star Trek 60th anniversary advertising campaign was turbolaunched this morning.
Just two stations, and if you’re not a fan of station rebranding, rest assured this is so subtle it’s almost too easy to miss that it’s happening. A few decals at South Kensington and King’s Cross St Pancras station, and mostly adverts for Samsung televisions in a branding tie-in with Star Trek.
However, there are also tannoy announcements — and these are very Star Trek branded, with a transporter sound opening and then themed messages. One references the infamous Tribbles, and another replaces the See It, Say It, Sort It message (which is as ubiquitous as Tribbles these days, and just as annoying).
According to the Star Trek website, the branding campaign runs today and tomorrow (7th and 8th September).
There is also a Star Trek event at the Samsung store at King’s Cross, and a Star Trek themed late opening at the Science Museum on Tuesday evening.
