7th May 2026

It’s a bit of a fresh start for us this month, with a subtle refresh to the magazine. Nothing too drastic – you’ll still find all the features you know and enjoy – but we hope the updated look makes for an even better read as you spend time on board or by the water. Inside, there’s plenty to dive into.
Our Galley Grub serves up fresh flavours with Greek lamb flatbreads – perfect for the warmer days we’re all hoping are just around the corner. We continue our Canal Champions series by shining a light on unsung hero Fred Barrett, while Lost on the Cut explores the fascinating story of Norwood Tunnel. In Lockside Livelihoods, we meet Deaine Duffy, whose inspiring journey has seen her build a life and business afloat following a life-changing accident.
If you’re dreaming of cruising further afield, we’ve a taste of summer in Sweden to inspire your next adventure. And with the season turning, the events calendar is picking up pace – Crick Boat Show remains the highlight, and you’ll find our essential guide in this issue. I’m planning to be there, so do come and say hello if you’re visiting!
Here’s to longer days, warmer evenings and a great summer ahead on the waterways.
