Slim Summer Saturday
It's time to rest Slim Summer Saturday after eight slender weeks. Technically there are still three summer Saturdays to go but that's enough for now. I only introduced the feature to help get me through a particularly busy season of long-distance travel and I'm pleased to say it achieved its purpose.
Slim Summer Saturday posts started out particularly slim (a photo of a tree in Harringay) but ultimately ended up a few paragraphs long so became less of a throwaway. Statistics show that the most viewed SSS post was the first one, the aforementioned tree, confirming there is no correlation between 'effort expended' and 'exposure earned'. Every SSS post gained more than 10 comments, which is more than yesterday's Full Fat Friday post managed. The most-commented SSS post was a cut-and-pasted list of things someone else remembered, which just goes to prove that nostalgia is always a successful fallback. The other seriously successful post feedbackwise was a photo of a peculiar tube map I saw in a bar in Spain, because inviting transport-related engagement usually delivers.
I have learned that less is sometimes more. And normal Saturday service is now restored.
